Upcycle Love for my Baby Girl.

My precious daughter has had a list growing of cute tees that she wants made into dresses. So, I took a small break in between orders and knocked some of them out for her.

This one got an actual squeal! I think it may have something to do with the adorable pony on the shirt. :)

A darling summer dress featuring Rapunzel, butterflies, tiaras....
What's not to love about that!!!

.... and SUPER twirly!
I promise! It passed the 5 yr olds twirl test. :)

I finished this one up late last night as a tank top with twirly skirt. She hasn't even seen it yet!! He he he...

She has many more requests, as does my son. One step at a time and I may get to all of them before the end of summer!

Oooh la la - Refashion

While out thrifting the other day, my mom spotted this darling little dress.
Super cute, right?!
Unfortunately, it's 12mth size tag was a bit too small for my princess. We've used 18mth as twirl tops, but this one was just shy of buttoning.
I ALMOST put it back, but then....
Brain storm..... REFASHION IT!!!

I started by cutting off the black gingham sash and bow. And used my seam ripper to painstakingly remove the tulle ruffle at the bottom. I wanted something that would be cute and girly, but not so fancy for every day wear this summer.
I also wanted it to match some adorable zebra ruffle leggings I had made her.

I had scraps left from the leggings, so I added a few as "tuxedo-style" ruffles on the bodice which I then trimmed with white bias tape to conceal the edge of the ruffle knit.
I covered up the gingham left with some fun hot pink polka ribbon.

Are these Paris pooches not the cutest!!??!

For the back, where the buttons were a tad to snug....
I removed the buttons (save for later, cute buttons are always a bonus) and added zebra ribbon to tie close.

There you have it! An adorable twirl top and legging set, sure to keep my Princess comfy, cool, and cute this summer. I may even make her a little pink beret to match, just like the pooches are wearing in the print.

I encourage you to not over look cute little dresses just because they are a touch too small. You never know what you may create with a little bit of love! :)

Ribbons and Roses....

A good friend of mine recently gave me a bag full of some gorgeous feathers left over from her wedding decorations. I have been seeing some amazing feather fascinators around lately. Seems they are the big thing for hair accessories. I even glimpsed a lovely one on the head of one of the teens at church on Sunday.

So, I was inspired. I gathered up my favorites from the bag, combined them with some hand-folded roses and tada....

A gorgeous ribbon rose and feather fascinator. Sure to win over the biggest teen fashionista!!

Elfi!!!

I was cleaning/organizing my sewing stash this afternoon and came across some scraps from this adorable, and very hard to find I might add, Elfi fabric. There is just enough for 2-3 pairs of deco jeans!!! I know that I'll be deco-ing (is that a word??) a denim jumper for Joy's Easter dress with her fave fairy from the print. And it still leaves me 4 fairies and some flower butterfly scraps to add to coordinating fabric for a super cute pair of jeans or capris to celebrate spring!! Head on over to my facebook page for details!

Here are a few examples of past deco designs that I have done to give you all an idea of what can be done on your Elfi set!!
